Hi, got caught up (not really), so I disassembled my distributor, It was nasty, it was a working distributor on a running engine. Obviously needs a vacuum advance. Is it worth saving or can a pertronix be installed in it or similar? the wires on the pickup are in bad shape, frayed wires.
Thanks again;)

If the bushings and shaft are good save it. You cannot do a petronix on a electric unit. Get a pick up and save the ECU etc I have them if needed NOS $40.

I guess I'm trying to figure~ by the time I buy: dist cap, vacuum advance, rotor, gear, pickup, ecu, I may as well buy a complete system? Just started looking at this part of the build

Even if you buy new, I would stick with the stock Mopar style electronic ignition.

Ok, ordering some parts on Rock auto, see if I can save this distributor. Just need a ignition control module wiring harness. Pricey little thing.

You're lookin in the wrong places.

I have 2 OEM electronic distributors both running Pertronix Ignitor II. 1 is on my 360 La Engine the other is on my 440.

I wouldn't count the cap and rotor in cost to rebuild the distributor, I also wouldn't do petronix on a distributor that's already electronic

I can't see where that would be any better.
For one thing if you should happen to have any problems you won't be able to walk in the corner parts store and have a chance for getting replacements very easy.., id rather have the original for that reason.
If anything go to an HEI with the stock pickup
