my 78 van has the blower working fine, but barely if anything warm comes out.
when i grab the hose's they are both hot.
Hotter thermostat? which one? or what else could be?

If both hoses are hot at the firewall, warm water is passing through the heater core.

Check for a stuck heater box baffle or a broken control cable, or......

checked everything, just real slightly warm air comes out!

Yes, sounds like the heater core is clogged. The hot water may be going in and leeching out before it saturates the core to give off maximum heat.

It could also be plugged another way......

Leaves, pine needles, mouse nest etc. inside the heater housing not allowing air to pass through it efficiently.

How is the water controlled? Does it have a heater control valve or is the temperature controlled with the HVAC box under the dash with a door? Could be the temp door isn't working if that's what it has.

My heater core section was full of leaves and crap causing no heat.
Glad someone mentioned it.

Both hoses hot means it's circulating, but I wouldn't hesitate to flush the core backwards anyway.

took heater core box apart, there's 2" of antifreeze lay on bottom. Not a hard fix!
thanks guys
