Good morning everyone.

Couple questions about a Slant 6 oil pan. Will they all interchange? Is there anything different about the oil pan on a 4 wheel drive truck than a car? I may have some mixing and matching going on.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Aaron, very informative and interesting.

Regardless of what chassis the engine is going into, will any pan physically bolt up to any block? Also, does the oil pickup come down the same place on every block or do they vary depending on where the sump is supposed to be?

The pickups vary with the pans...not sure whether all pans fit all engines.

No. For example, there is only ONE pan that fits the early A body. Then, there is only ONE truck pan.....for the most part. Some of the early truck chassis had a front sump pan. "Some" of the car pans will interchange. There is "ONE" pan that's referred to as "universal" and supposedly fits all car chassis....but.......you guessed it, does NOT fit the early A body. It's pretty unfortunate that no one makes new pans for the slant 6, so if you find one, no matter what it's for, grab it if you can. Don't forget on the trucks, to also get the dipstick and tube, as well as the oil pickup. Those items are almost impossible to find.
