Slant 6 worth?

A friend of mine has a complete, running /6 & noisy but working 4speed O.D. 833 attached to it from a 2wd 76 D-100 pick-up he has. We are installing a 6.4 HEMI & 6speed in this truck. The slant 6 has an aluminum Offy 4bbl manifold & Holley carb & factory electronic distributor. He wants to sell as a complete package not part it out. What do you all think is a fair asking price for this? I will get some photos of it TODAY & post them when here from you guys what a fair price would be. He wants it gone ASAP as far as I know.

Not counting the engine, except as a "core". When was the last time you tried to by a Offie intake with carb, or a A833SO with a Hurst shifter? If I were in that area I would jump all over that for $500 (with hurst shifter), and I'm a cheapskate.

basically that sums it up right there.

it's an offy intake with a carb and maybe a shifter.

a crunchy OD box is basically scrap pricing, maybe you see some dimes on the flywheel and bell. the motor is core and a boat anchor and if you don't need it or know somebody that needs it you'll be sitting on it forever.

any of that, or if you tried to break the motor, you'll need a local buyer because shipping would put the kibosh on any deal.

I agree with both if I wanted a six cylinder and a 4 gear overdrive with that manifold and carb I would pay that 500 no problem. I also agree that Charlie is a cheapskate but a good one! LOL

Charlie- I said since he knew the combo one price and if it were a stranger - I would pay a different. I do not pay for an unknown engine based on a persons opinion if “okay.”
As for buying /6 parts- it’s been years.
But used parts are used as if you buy a swap meet. I price accordingly.
 
The O/D trans is worth a couple hundred as a core, many good parts on those. Someone wanting a 4-speed behind a slant wound need that bellhousing. Shifter and shift rods are good to have, 4 bbl intake and carb….yeah $400-$500 is a great deal!
 
I'm posting pics of it right now. No shifter is included but a brand-new exhaust manifold is.
