Hey there mopar heads Does a 1979 cast crank 225 need to have a balanced Manual flywheel? iam putting a four speed behind a cast crank 225.:burnout: Thanks in advance.

Bad news man.
The 4-speed alone won't help you do burn outs unless your slanty has some real oats, and you really rev it up. This is because the M/T low gear(2.66) is not significantly different from the A999(2.74), and you gave up the torque multiplication of the auto.
What you really need is a TUNE-UP, a looser TC, and probably more rear gear.
And no peg-legger burn outs! Sooner or later the cross-pin will vacate it's home and destroy the rear end.So get a SG and hard skinny tires.

hey thanks for the response i am using the 1st generation 4speed with the ball and trunion off a donor early a body going in my 64 dodge dart with a 3.23 suregrip 7.25 rear im just mating with a later cast crank slant six motor

Now yer talkin! The 3.09 x 3.23 will give you a 9.98 starter gear.
The A999 with it's 2.74 x 3.23 hits 8.85. but with an assumed 13% torque multiplication,the initial hit might be; lesee 1.13 x 8.85 = 9.98!
Sorry man. If the TC stalls at 1600, and you dump the clutch at the same 1600, then it's a draw. But of course the M/T has an adjustable stall, so rev it up and go.

As for me I woulda just gone straight to 3.55s and a 2400 TC.Naw that's not true. I woulda gone to a V8.

That 7.25 SG will last forever behind that 6, the SG version was stout, not like its one legged brother.

Yup sounds about even i have a 65 dart post with a 318 4 speed 3.55 very fun ride i never had a problem with the ball and trunion i get to pick them up cheap because everyone wants the slip yoke set up

The 7 1/4 SG is a lot stronger then its peg leg brother. I have run many of them for years, running 13's in the quarter with slicks. That being said, I always used an auto trans. I wouldn't go dropping the hammer on that 7 1/4. They don't like "shock" loading
