Does anbody make any better biscuit mounts for the small block than stock? I've looked everywhere and all I can find are stock replacements for pre-70. I installed my 360 in my 68 Cuda and tightened down the new (5-6 yrs. ago) mounts and the rubber has dry rotted and they don't look like they will last long so I'm gonna have to replace them. I remember in the old days it seemed every year or so I was always having to replace a broken one unless I had the engine chained down and that looks tacky.

fishy68, I have seen them for a-bodies, I just can't remember where at this time. There the same bisket but with added steel clips. Prior to me seeing them I went throught two sets of those made in China mounts with my little 273. So I added a tie down. Never a problem, just maybe ugly

Also I found this link on solid mounts?

I believe if you get the same style of mount from a truck it has the interlocking pieces from the factory. Due to being a HD design. Or schumacher makes one also I think it's only a factory one with a thru-bolt.

Thanks guys for the replies. I would love to go with the solid mounts and never have to worry about them again but I hear they really transfer vibration bad and this is a mostly street driven car with limited track use so that's why I'm shying away from them. I also thought about the adjustable turnbuckle but am not crazy about the looks but it does look like it will work well. Sounds like I may have to go to NAPA tomorrow and check into the heavy duty truck mounts to see what they have. If not I may try to weld the interlocking tabs on the backside of mine.

Thanks again for all the ideas gents.

I used solid mounts on a car i owned right out of high school, granted it was fairly stock, but even i forgot it had solid mounts, I really don't think it was much different compared to stock mounts. (vibrations, etc.) :salut:

fishy68; Schumacher has a better looking, less intrusive looking, smaller torque strap than a large turn buckle like picture above.
The aboved pictured turnbuckle is easy to get and super cheap. Very strong as well. The Schumacker unit is smaller and uses spereical (sp) ends. 1 bolts to the motor mount and the other is in a bracket bolting to the K frame. A little expensive, but it is a clean look. Worked well behind my 11-1 360.

I just checked it out and that is a nice looking setup. Unfortunately I just got the pink slip at work so money is tight but I have some HD rod ends and tubing so I think I might be able to build it. Just gotta come up with some good bushings. Thanks for the idea Rumble.

There ya go, makeing use of the grey matter!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Haven't been out of work for over 15 yrs. but it allready sucks. At least this time I knew it was coming and had a chance to prepare some. Now I have no excuse to not have time to put the Cuda together since I have probably 98% of the parts. Got plenty of time.
