Looking for input on intake choices. We have a strip dominator on car now. Have a performer and a tm5. I think strip dominator is too much intake. 360 .030 over. 9.5-1, j heads 2.02 stock ports, crane gold rockers, crane power max cam, .467/.494 lift and 222/[email protected] on a 114 centerline,750dp,10" ptc and 3.23 gears. Has been 8.33@82mph. Putting a set of 4.10 and going to change intake. Leaning towards tm5.

eddy air gap.....then eddy victor....

I would use the strip dominator before I would use the TM5...

The strip dominator is too much. It is a race intake. 3000-6500+ RPM's.
The engine combo is closer to a stock HP engine. Use the Performer. It is about equal to a factory 4bbl.

I would buy an Edelbrock RPM Airgap even if I had to sell scrap metal and pick up cans.

That is the best small block Mopar intake made for the average Sportsman racer.
Has a great rpm range and responds well to gasket matching and porting.

Well, considering he has a choice of 2 intakes he all ready has,.... You guys are way off base though the rpm is a better intake, I think he is limiting his wallet spending to Christmas gifts for others and making due with what he has.

A Performer or a TM5.

There's your choices.

Sell all three of those POS's, well two pos and one decent intake, and buy an air gap!

That would also be my advice, if asked... LOL!
Sheeeeet, the strip Dom in good shape is an easy $200.

Really??

I have used the Strip Dominator since 1980. Tested it against all that 2 plane crap and the SD is ALWAYS better than all the others. If it isn't it's your combo. Usually way too wide LSA, which looks to be at least one issue you have.

In 1980 I put 360 heads with a 3 angle valve job on a 318. Had the 284 purple cam, SD, Hooker 5204 headers, 3.55 gears and a B&M Holeshot converter (about 2800 RPM stall). The car ran 12.80's all day long, won more beer that I could drink and fooled more posers than I can count.
Fix you combo.

Just my .00000000000000000000000193423 cents

Welcome to 2014, where the dominant intake of the 80's has taken a back seat to new and improved 2 plane crap.

Yep, Comparing an engine with a 284/484 to one with 222 at .050 thinking a strip dom will be good on that... yep have at it!

I'm sure a condescending barrage will soon follow.

Hey Mad Sci, take a chill
Pill instead of smoking were and posting stupid comments.

I do have a chinese air gap but it was cut on intake side and is too narrow. Been waiting on thicker gaskets for 3 weeks. Camshaft is small and has wide lobe separation. We had this cam when we had turbo on car. Got a oil leak on front of intake.

I was being sarcastic.

As I said earlier in the thread, the Air Gap is the best intake made for a small block mopar doing anything from street duty to Sportsman racing.

I have one on my high 6 second Dart race car that I shift at 6400 rpm, and it pulls hard all the way through.

I agree with you.

Comparing a 318 with a 284 to a 360 with a 222 at .050 cam is pretty funny. When all you care about is top end HP, a SD may make more.

I wouldn't change the intake until you put the 4.10 gear in ,it might be just right after the gear swap. just my 2cents.

Why are my comments stupid? Because you can't do what I have been doing for decades? I still do it.

The RPM air gap is a filler...just a hi-rise stocker.

But keep following the pack. You are just another member of the herd.

Let me help you out here.

The 360 with that LITTLE cam should have no problem with the SD if a 318 with more @.050 liked it. Follow me yet?

Just to prove my point...how many late model cars have dual plane intakes? None, not one. In fact, one could argue they are laid down tunnel ram intakes that make more bottom end than you can use.

Old crap dies hard.
