Actually the long set and short set don't correlate to a 904 vs. a 727. Both torqueflites use the same braces. Early engines had the drivers side mounting pad in a different location vs. newer engines (I think it changed in 74 but it might have been 75). That's the difference in the long vs. short ones. If you compare them the passenger side is the same length. No idea why Ma changed only the dr. side but she did. Good luck with the sale(s).
