Very nice but check out the bolts that come with them. I didn’t have that same brand but my bolts were really cheap looking. I went to Fastenal and bought good ones. I had to go back and edit this because with the spacers you will need new ones anyway.

They have. I've done it myself for years and it works well. All you have to do is grind the vertical lip off for the length of the intake runners, just like in the picture Gold Member and Moderator @toolmanmike was most generous enough to share. And got no response. No thank you, kiss my foot, or nuthin. He nor anyone else on here gets paid to help people, yet, somehow, those people seem to get stepped on, crapped on, ignored and treated the worst.

I tell you what. I'm just bout done with throwin helping hand after helping hand out, only to be met with nuthin.....or a smartass answer. And yeah, I'm colorful sometimes and like to poke with the stick, but I always give helpful answers and the one thing people seem to gravitate towards is my colorful comment, rather than the help. Makes me shake my head in disbelief at the amount of total snowflakes are in this world today. You've gotten lots of help here in this thread, but give somebody a smartass answer back. "Mr Gold member"? Seriously? Without Gold Members, there wouldn't be a site for you to come get all the free help you want and then turn around and smart people off. He was basically asking you what you had so he might could give even more help. I'm writing your username down on my "no respond list" and will let you go down for the frikkin third time before I ever respond to the likes of you again. I feel sorry for people anyway who cannot figure out a simple problem like this on their own. How DO you tie your shoes every day?

Stainless and aluminum don't play well together. And stainless bolts generally have a lower yield strength than mild steel.

May not be an issues on valve covers unless you are using aluminum heads.
 
I'm guessing you had a rough day, Rusty. You're usually not so angry. I agree that today's snowflakes think they're entitled to everything by simply holding their hand out. You and I are older and know better, but we have to get some younger members on board, or our cars will be gone in a generation. Your advice is almost always good, with a touch of smartass, which us old guys understand, but I hate to see you blow a gasket over something trivial. Come on over, we'll have a beer and talk. Paul.

I would gladly buy that round.
Simply asked for users on here that had experience with this as it's my first time dealing with a lot of things on the car - like the spacers for the valve covers.
I've had the car since I was 15 (now 53) I'm completely re-doing it - and want to do it correctly.
The help and advice on here is priceless, much appreciated.
Oh and Rusty - after playing hockey my whole life, 2 hip replacements, to tie my shoes isn't the easiest, but I deal with it, just like dealing with snowflakes.
 
I'm not any kind of UN butthole, but it seems to me that some of us(me included, at 63) seem to be getting more pissed off as we age. Come on, folks, there ain't many of these cars left, and the younger generation isn't interested if it's not electric or hydrogen powered. I'll bet we'll have to have some kind of special permit to buy fuel for internal combustion engines in 10 years from now. RRR, you're a vast book of knowledge, but you seem to be getting more bitter the past few months. I'm an old Jarhead with a broken back, shoulder, and other physical problems. My '70 Swinger 340 is an anchor in my life, and helps keep my rudder centered. The knowledge I've gained on this site has helped me immensely. I come here to escape the daily BS, and go back to 1970, when life was simpler. Maybe I'm dreaming, but that's my retirement dreams.

Good points here.. I will be 67 next week I come on here as a release, I was forced into retirement last year and am dealing with worsening arthritis but I keep racing and working on my cars and trucks. I am a little bitter but I have found I am also more sensitive like a few weeks ago I was chastised for placing a for sale ad twice by a member ( not a moderator ) I was ready to cancel my account and move on but took a deep breath and came back because for the most part there are good people on here. I have been successful both selling and buying here. I will give advice to anybody that asks and have given away parts for free in the past. Everybody is entitled to their opinion just don't chastise me for an over site

I think when typing on here, sometimes an emotion is assumed, possibly taken the wrong way.
I sure don’t want to piss off anyone on here as I definitely need and appreciate the advice.
I decided to become a Gold Member because I do use this site quite a bit, felt I should chip in for the cause.
Ive had shitty days too and felt like responding something adverse, but take a deep breath and think better of it.
The best part about coming on here is the camaraderie and starting conversations about things I’ve never tried before etc.
much better than just googling something.

On another note, I’m taking my spacers and gaskets to my engine builder tomorrow morning. I’ll take pics and post how it looks.

Brought pieces to my builder today. Don’t need to trim for pushrods fortunately.
Machinist did trim cover as pic posted by toolmanmike, still not enough.
Holes may need a bit of opening up on the spacers, otherwise they’re very good quality.
Top of the intake gaskets need a small amount of trimming.
Screws for these covers are 3 1/4”, with the spacers and gaskets I’m getting 3 3/4” bolts.
Will be posting results soon.

Got engine home yesterday, much thanks to all who chimed in on questions asked!
Used the spacers under the valve covers and did a bit of trimming on them, they are on and sealed up, and will definitely tell all is well soon when I put it on the test run stand.
Getting excited now.

The spacers come plain aluminum, I painted them black to blend in a bit better.
Very good quality, here is a letter that came with them from the maker.

It doesn't seem to matter much with the younger people, but I'll gladly pay more for a product made in the USA. Showing my age, according to my kids.
 
I use Fel Pro 1646 gaskets, they are laminated 5/16" thick and have a steel core. My valve covers are similar to the OP's and I used SS socked head cap screws from Fastenal. A little bit of silver anti seize takes care of the corrosion when used in an aluminum head and for a valve cover I don't tighten the bolts on mine enough to worry about yield strength.

I'm definitely instilling that in any of the young people I know....
Since the car will have plenty of aftermarket parts made in China, I thought I'd show off the pride they put in to their American made product.
The quality shows for sure.
