Was doing a carburetor rebuild and through a process of third party interference, the emulsion tube (Haynes manual has it as Main Well Tube) snapped off. The 'great idea' of trying to solder it on came up and was attempted.
Long story short, how do I fix this. Im assuming just putting the carb back together and running it this way isnt a great idea.
Would I be able to take it to a shop and get it welded back on? or Just get a new carb?

Carburetor model 1945 R7018
I dont have a picture of it in its current condition. Ill be back at the location I left the carburetor at later. For right now I have this picture.
The emulsion tube is the thin needle like tube at the top, next to the venturi, to the left of the accelerator pump rod/spring.

The break was clean from the base of the carburetor. Theres no extra length of the emulsion tube.
Same with the emulsion tube, it is a clean break on the bottom.

You may be screwed. Hate to say it but without having my hands on it, that looks tough to fix.

May I ask what broke it off?

The tube in the photo above. (Main well tube/emulsion tube) It snapped where it meets the carb. Sadly Ive done some research as to its purpose, and availability. Its pretty important, and nobody sells replacements. They have to be taken from another carb, so Im just going to buy a whole new one :/

Whats this off of, whats your timeframe, and how much are you spending on a new one? I'm about to have a working 2 bbl come off a 77 318. You can have the thing if its the same.
"free" is cheap, but if you can buy a reman with a warranty for $50, may just be worth doing that.

Its off of the 225 motor. The slant six. I bought a rebuild kit but it only came with gaskets, pressure bead, etc. It didnt come with the power valve, accelerator pump spring, nor the tube that I broke. Thats why I had it off the car was to redo the carburetaor myself, but the tube broke off at some point. (Third part interference I mentioned)

Gotcha. So it' a 1 barrell? Post a wanted ad on here....people give those engines away...let alone a carb off one.lol

JM has the best idea for you. Someone here on FABO probably has a box of those carbs sitting around and can help you.

Giant PITA for you for sure.

Thank you, I just posted an ad. Yes its the one barrel. Hopefully I get a response. Id try to find a motor but the one in it is the original, and has less than 94k miles on it, so I was gonna just rebuild the motor for the sake of saying "its the cars original motor". Haha.I t also runs well too.
Was just going to just replace the float (which was bad) and decided to do the whole carb. :/

Thanks again though :D

I didnt read that correctly earlier.

My friend decided to "help" with reassembly, even though they werent present for the taking apart of the carburetor. I went to go handle some errands and when I came back to it, I attempted to reassemble everything and the tube fell off as soon as I grabbed the carb. Sad day.
