Soĺ Cal fires

-
i'm down south of you and fairly well insulated. if you get jammed up and need to stash your car i'm happy to help. just give a shout on the tech line.
Thanks Brother. So far today the winds are looking a little better. I will feel a lot better Thursday, when winds are supposed to subside. Thanks all for your concerns.

I saw Leno on Weather Channel last night discussing the fire. just caught last few seconds of it. Leno looked like he had been drug through the fire.

My buddy said Leno was at fire camp shaking hands with the crews and taking pictures. Angelina Jolie showed up to give thanks as well.

I saw 4 air tankers parked near the filling station for the phoz-chek yesterday afternoon. Don't know if they loaded for action or not.

Sean Penn was on right before Leno (on Anderson Cooper), by about 5-10 minutes. Didn’t have a 1948(?) fire truck to bring like Leno did, but he looked as though he’s been run through the ringer as well.

My nephew, the new Doc at Ronald Reagan at UCLA, reports that three of his coworkers (older Docs) lost their homes, and he says the stress has been almost unimaginable.

Gotta be tough, and my heart goes out to everyone out there.

This is ugly. Please send your best wishes for all.

Having worked over 35 years as a Surveyor in SoCal the area is always ripe for disaster and high winds, fire, congestion plus narrow canyon roads exacerbate the problem.

Snowstorms ( everywhere ), hurricanes, fires, earthquakes etc. are natural of course but as society becomes more dense the impact is exponentially greater.

I moved to the hills 12 years ago to get away from the Rat Race. I love that but tragedy struck a few years ago during the Erskine Fire losing over 600 homes in a small community.

Please have sympathy even if it's California and multi- million dollar homes in that neighborhood.

It’s just stuff
Some times we lose appreciation for how blessed we are living in the USA
The Good Lord allows us to enjoy our car hobby but this ain’t home
Today I’m thankful and hope to stay that way

True, but easy to say when you have at least a dozen other properties to go live..

Many agencies, organizations and states have extended their hand to the people..............

Prayers & thoughts to those who lost their life, homes and the likes

GOD KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPEN OUT THERE CAUSING THIS TRAGEDY ........

I seen they arrested some yahoo for trying to set San Berdoo on fire yesterday. 35 acres he burnt up.
Normally I'm one to "turn the other cheek" and give a guy a chance to redeem himself (themself?), but for **** like this, arson, and at this level/extent of damage...

If convicted: An eye for an eye, and burn the SOB's, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sick of this ****.

And I don't even live there.

Only 97 arrests for various crimes? Pretty good considering there are 10 million people down there .

My bad … 18.5 million .
Jeez…. That’s too many people in one area for me .
This should put it in perspective. States with less population than LA County.

And keep in mind that a majority of it is in half the county, the yellow area is sparsely populated desert and mountains.

I used to travel for work (factory training), and I've been to L.A. a couple dozen times over the years, but other than learning to fly into John Wayne/Orange County to avoid the LAX traffic, I never realized any of this.

Thanks!

here's a little perspective. one of the most southern tips of LA county is san pedro, in the harbor, and the northern is lancaster in the desert. that's 90-some odd miles apart and easily 3hrs away under normal traffic conditions. nicholas caynon beach to the west and claremont to the east is 80-some odd miles and would be the same 3hrs under general day time traffic.

LA as a city is relatively small, but as a county is enormous.

the area that i live in is the san fernando valley. it's 260 square miles, that's nearly 8 times the size of manhattan and has a population of 1.8 million people.

LA county is one of the biggest counties around. Especial a metro based county.

There's some history to how that happened.

Aren't a lot of what non-residents consider independant cities in the LA basin actually parts of the "City of Los Angeles"?
