So I guess "Mopar 340 Interceptor" sounded better?

1961 Higgins 27' Seafarer (Old Woody) - $4500 (N. Idaho)

I have a nice 1962 Higgins Seafarer cabin cruiser. It is all wood, 27' long (30' overall) by 11' wide. All mechanical and electrical have been upgraded, it has a rebuilt Mopar 340 intercepter engine w/velvet drive trans, single screw, full canvas, ice box, galley, head. fuel is 1 1/2 years old and should be checked ( I did add gas stablizer). I have not started the boat yet this year but ran great last summer. There is some dryrot around the window frames and some on the kick panel by the helm. The hull still seems very solid but should be checked by a pro. boat is in dry dock. Lots of beautiful wood work in this boat.
I am selling this because I dont have the time and money to restore this rare boat properly.
No trailer.
Asking $4500 obo, may consider part/full trades.

I think I remember hearing my dad say they were just 318's with 340 heads and camshafts and called interceptor's? Never saw one in a boat though but the again I never looked lol!

That was an Interceptor but probably a 240 and nothin' to do with Chrysler

that looks like a 312 which is consistant with Dearborn engines

DING DING DING

I don't know if it's a 312, but it most certainly is a Ferd "Y" block

The 2 valve cover hold down bolts gave it away.

There were 318 Squad cars that had 360 heads. Then there were 318 that had "Interceptor" heads which were 318 high compression. Engines with these heads were known unofficially as "Interceptor engines".
