I know, I know, I didn't put it in the Restoration Thread because I am not following a Restoration Path. Not knocking Restorers or Restored cars, but I cannot justify Tearing the Car apart 100%, building and installing the car on a rotiseirie, having the unibody sandblasted, then install brand new NOS/Year One sheetmetal, then open up the wallet and Do Up the interior with no component left untouched...I could buy a completely done car in the color of my choice for less.


So, to me.....this is not a Restoration, but a Restification and Build to suit me...and the purpose of this thread is for anyone to ask questions or comment or give bodywork advice on my work. I may not do the best job body wise, but there will be no lack of effort here.

The only part of the car I intend to "show" will be the rear bumper and tail lights....fading away as turbo boost hits the sleeper Roller 318.

Care? Don't Care? Either way is cool with me, Nothing has been lost by joining here....I can honestly say that....My membership is more tied to boredom and a overflowing love of all Mopars'., than a connection with anyone one person or ideology here.

Indeed...... Keep doin' what you are doin'. Like myself, you have responsibilites, priorities and a limited budget to work with. You do what you can as you can. The current economic situation doesn't help matters much either. You do it for the love of your MoPar. You do it for the pride of knowing that when it is done, you did it all. Your sweat, your blood, your cash your fanatical research into how you can do the most with the least.
But it is fun and great releif.
Isnt that why its called a Hobby?
 
Man, whatever to them. You seem to be doing good on it already and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I to would like to see the patches before the filler, if you took any that is.
 
All that virgin metal looks great, Prine! Keep up the good work! As a suggestion, you should probably think about squirting some primer on the bare areas. I realize you are in NM but bare metal rusts SO easily. Are you planning on removing the window trim/door handles etc before paint or masking them?

Car is really loking good! Where did you get that gas cap? I have never seen one like that, kind neat. Looking at your progress make me want to start on my 70 Dart! Keep up with the great work Prine and keep posting pictures! 8)
 
just remember to remove the fender extensions to check for rust. c we do care
 
Prine, just curious, will you be using your side body mouldings or are you going to fill the holes? If not using them, wanna sell em?

said, My arms and neck are burning up just seeing the work you have got dun. At the end of the day of working it down to metal I like a shot of Primer that will sand off easy when you need it too.

I seen a bike out front! I had a 550 Four K Honda years ago and it has the same look from what I can see.

I have a new found respect for Paint and Body Guys, I assure you.

I am motivated to get this paint job done, but the work sure is labor intensive.

66340Sedan, Man I wish I would have known someone would be interested in that Side Body Molding, I just threw it way about 3 weeks ago!....I would have DONATED it to you for shipping costs.

I still have (3) pieces of wheel well trim....Passenger Front, and Both Rears....Anyone is free to pick-a-piece $40 each or $100 shipped for all (3).

I have my Auto Glass buddy coming by to remove the windshield and rear window trim today.

On a side note, all the Parts I have been hunting have been sourced and purchased!.....so that is a BIG YEEAAAAA on my books :cheers:......

Ohhhh, the question about the vinyl top clips....seems they were not all the same. Some were a screw with a round plastic tab under the screw, some are a metal stud with two pointed tangs......I kept all the hardware and trim if anyone is interested in Vinyl Top Trim and hardware....I am filling the seam and painting the top body colour....F4.
 
Hey Prine, I guess most of us are in awe of the sheet metal on that dart! squirt some clear paint on it and call it a day ( :lol: dart-lorian ) :cheers: What's the story on the gas cap???? inquiring minds want to know!! part number?

I remember the feeling, I just finished my 73 Swinger. Thought I'd never get it done, I had so many problems pop up with the engine I built. What a feeling when I drove it though the showfield gate at Carlisle this past weekend...exciting!!!

It was on the car when I got it.

Kinda looks like a 68' fuel cap.

I am going to find a standard A-body cap and go body color with it.
 
WOW gtreat progress im doing the same thing on my 68 valiant but im not stripping it to metal its a lot of work but it sure is gratifying when you accomplish a task great work.

On the gas cap...the first pics i couldn't see very well but now that you showed it up close there is no doubt whatsoever. It is definatly a cap off of a 37 Henweigh. Confirmed that for ya.
Gota remove the door handles for painting just because we care. Very clean metal if you ask me. Good luck with the Henweigh cap.

On the clips. R/T specialties has what you need. Call him and let him know what you have. They are different depending on yr and model.

I do have quite bit of energy. Soon to be sucked dry by my own 3.75 women (wife is having a girl!). Better get it while the gettins good huh? I am 30 years old in a house surrounded by women...well....we do have a Male Cat....that could be a Fairy Tale or a nightmare depending on how you look at things!

Prine, I'm pissed!! Not really:) I haven't even touched my swinger:( It still has the tow strap hooked up to it and two flat front tires. BUT, When I get ready to build the powerplant I just may have to check out this turbo charging stuff your so into:) Maybe you could help me build mine on the cheepo so I don't end up spending twice the money I should.(like I did with the first one). Once we are all done with our cars maybe we could race to Santa Rosa and loser has to buy Margarita's at the bar by the Lake. Look's like it's a straight shot right across I40.
 
John, I'll sell you the complete vinyl top trim, including the front pieces for the A-Pillars, and all the hardware that was removeable (some studs are still on the car..permanantly attached)....basically the screws that had the little plastic tab under them...for $40 shipped inside the 48 states.

Otherwise, I can take pictures of the screws with the plastic tabs, or the studs with the tangs and illustrate here...
