So... What did I buy?

I stated I have see as high as 13. 14 beats that. Look at the porosity in the metal. Numbers not as defined as the lower numbered block and the block not as smooth. Often wondered how high they went . 14 is the highest I have seen now so far. Maybe someone will come up with a 15

I remember seeing no dash and just 2 numbers after the engine size. Late 80's early 90's. They must have been when they were being made in Mexico, LOL. I only ever saw one and didn't pay much attention. That is a very cool addition to the list . looks like it was rusted and blasted .

The 23'd revision to the mold. LA 318's were made for a long time so many mold and core repairs were made throughout it's production life. Is there a casting date shown on that block. It will be a late production one for sure.

Also looks like the 23 digits are a different size too

The repairs and modifications to that mold were either done in a different department or offsite by another shop. My neighbor just sold his pattern shop here and did repairs and modifications to cores and molds for John Deere Foundry. Each revision got the next sequence number (the -xx number on the end)

No pictures of that side of the block but the listing said out of a 1990 ramcharger, so that sounds right. The only anomaly is the intake manifold is for a carburetor, and I don't see dogbones on the lifters. I was pretty sure the 318 got both in 88', but i might be wrong on that, maybe it was the 360?

That also has a high casting number and the later model heads like the #302's. (see the AIR ports ) I don't have that block number on my list but it could be a roller cam 318 block.
The ad said 714 heads, but i can't see those numbers. Yes, air ports by the exhaust, and i was wrong about the dog bones. Although I still can't see them, I can make out the tip of the spider bracket that holds them

Off a ramcharger site: It's a -21 with a casting date of 3/87 It's a late 318 for sure. Magnums came out around 92'.
