Does anyone make a solid roller lifter that can be used with stock roller block dog bones and retainer? Or are they all retro-fit with link bars???

Could a guy take them apart and shim them solid? The factory hydraulics, that is.

You could but one of the benefits of a solid over a hydraulic is the weight of the lifters. Adding shims or a “puck” to make a hydraulic a solid adds even more weight to the valvetrain.

Yes. Very true.

Also you would be limited to the oem lifter wheel diameter also, bigger wheels are available in the aftermarket varieties

Yes you can. A thin wall spacer won't add any weight as your ditching the check valve, ball, spring, etc. Solid spacer not needed. Weigh a stocker and then gut it to only the seat. Don't even need oil in it if the roller is not pressure fed.

True but a hydraulic lifter even when made solid and ditching all the guts is still going to weigh (dare I say much) more than a solid.

Since I have several sb mopar projects going on right now in the shop, I weighed a few lifter pairs.

Crane solid body roller pair: 239.3 grams
Comp solid body roller pair: 268.5 grams
Magnum rollers: 303.2 grams, I weighed 2 together for comparison.

The Magnums were new replacements by Melling with no oil in them.

Thought I would post it for those who are curious.....

yes but if you are that hard core get some pressure feed solid rollers with a bigger wheel
spend money to go light on the valve side
