hi guys,
i have three 340 blocks that i picked up and i noticed that every time someone puts one up for sale people always ask for the vin.figured i'd list them here first and see if anyone needs that #.
1/71 2B235591
2/72 3B118702
5/72 3B125153
not sure if this is the right forum though

Man, that vin# makes it easier. Thanks for posting. None are my factory motor. Tons of people looking. Thanks again, mike.

Nice of you to post these. You may want to clean the surface areas of the VIN pads a bit more.

I'm thinking your 1st listing could be this instead since it's a 72 VIN ?

11/71 2B235591

2nd listing could be this since it's a 73 VIN ?

12/72 3B118702

3rd listing is kind of an early VIN for 73, but not sure & could be correct.

Hope one of these 340's can find their original home 8-)

Model years varied at Hamtramck a bit, but each model year always started the previous calendar year.

As an example, the 1970 model year began August 1, 1969. So finding 1969 engine casting dates in 1970 model year cars is very common.

The actual engine assembly dates for small blocks will be on the front of the block, right below the driver's side head surface.
