Tomorrow I'm going to be shooting a friends jeep wrangler hard top in black. Its currently the spice color.
My question is what kind of paint should I buy?
Its a fiber glass top, they are usually covered in a dull or semi gloss one shot paint.
My intent is to scuff the tan color and just shoot the black over it. So what would be a good paint to buy that would allow me to shoot it and forget it and give me the dull or satin finish that comes from the factory?
Thanks...Joe

Joe,
I used to use Dupont vinyl paint for that application. I just had them mix it with low gloss resin. However it seems to have gotten really pricy so now I would probably use SEM Hot Rod Black. A quart kit with reducer and activator cost me about $45 and makes a quart and a half of sprayable material. One kit should be plenty to do the top.

Went with the SEM hot rod black. It was my lucky day ended up having to order it but on the way home passed by the Dodge dealer and Tidewater Mopar was having a show out front! Awesome!
The paint will be here Tuesday.

If you haven't shot it yet...get some "bulldog" it is an adhesion promoter, read the directions on the can it will help keep the paint stuck since you cant get a good scuff on the textured finish....Good Luck Joe!!!
