The key with drum brakes is, have them in top operating condition, don't drive like a maniac and don't use drum brakes on a car with considerable power. Slant 6 cars, stock 273 and 318 cars are about what I call "the limit" for drum brakes and if it's a V8, then they better be 10" drum brakes in good working order. Anything above that is front disc brake territory. That's one old peon's opinion anyway.be careful saying that, you might keep that on the low low because you might get a lecture on how irresponsible it is to have drums, what if you needed to panic stop a second within 2 minutes of the first one, that could have been bad.
