In our 70' Dart we are running the 6X9's int he rear and just purchased the Retro sound 4X10 for the front. That actually has a left and right in a single speaker. I can't wait to get it in and see how it sounds.

There is only 1 in the center of the dash. That's why we went with the L and R in a single speaker. You just can't push a lot of power thru it but at least you have some sound up front with out cutting up door panels or kick panels.

I made this out of .080" aluminum sheet to hold dual 3.5" dash speakers in the center dash speaker hole, and have the kick panels that are moulded for 4x6" speakers

Do not mix 4 and 8 ohm speakers will not sound right. Impedance needs to match. 4 ohms will get loud before the 8 ohms starts to get loud.

Anyone know that the stock radio is ohmed at? Can I mix 4ohm and 8ohm

In general, Matt is correct. However, if you are adding more than one speaker (usually stock) it gets a little more complicated. If the radio is designed for 4 ohms, then adding a second 4 ohm speaker would now be a 2 ohm load on the radio ( 4 ohms in parallel with 4 ohms is two ohms). In this case it would be better to use two 8 ohm speakers.

The good news Is that you probably aren’t going to hurt the radio in most cases as they are pretty robust to loads.

They sell kick panels with speakers installed or without. I have them in a 74 Duster. Classic industries has them and I would guess Year One would also have them.

There was member here that made inserts to run 'normal' speakaz in that hole.

Search button.....go!

The only problem with the speakers in front dash there so close you don't get true Stereo effect.

If you have Matt’s speakers in the dash, kick panel speakers, & 6x9s in the back, that sounds like the ultimate a body stereo.

Only thing better would be would be a sub woofer, but mine sounds great without one.

Well I ordered the re-fabricated retro sound (stereo 4x10) It’s rated 8-10 ohm,I have the stock am radio in there gunna keep it <3, now just looking for some rear 6x9 that are 8 ohm? Right and just hook them all up!? Should work no??

What are the dimensions for the bracket so that I could make one for my 71’ dart
I sold out of these. The mount hole dimensions are center to center where the studs are that mount the factory dash speaker. As far as the speaker holes themselves go, you could do 3&1/2" diameter or 4" diameter easily.
