Speed pro narrow rod bearings and the 3/4 groove main bearings. Whats your thoughts on them? Will be used with a molnar 4" crank. Will be a race only motor.
Thank you for the info.Rod bearings are fine. I’d use full groove main bearings. It’s not a Chevy and it doesn’t oil like one.
Again thanks for the info guys.....last 2 builds I've done i put 1/2 groove in.....they looked good when removed but I do understand why on the full goove....that's what got me thinking on the 3/4 groove....I do open up 2 3 4 the feed the mains to 9/32 and open up all the 1/2" passages to make sure they are 1/2". This block has bushed lifter bores too
Race only and should be 7000 and under as I only run 1/8 mile anymore. Probably shift 6500-6800If you have bushed lifter bores, that's going to help. That's the single biggest oil leak in a SBM. What are you using the engine for and what rpm are you running?
Never really looked at a chevy oiling system...I will have to look at it...this motor will be 650ish or lower HP and shift at 6800 or lowerWith a full groove bearing you feed some oil all the time out to the rods.
There are reasons why getting some oil to the rods full time but saying then causes a massive **** show.
What I will say is if you want to know the why just compare the liking system of the small block Chrysler with the small block Chevy.
The differences you see are the reasons.
Anything you can do to stop taking oil from the main bearings to oil the valve gear is a good thing.
Of course if you shift at 5500 none of this stuff applies.
