Wow this thing needs major help and I honestly don’t know if it’s doable. I will post up flow numbers hopefully later tonight. This thing at .500 lift is sucking well over 50 plus horsepower out of my ported heads. At first glance it doesn’t look bad as far as gasket matching but it appears to taper in badly past the entrance. Matt and I both use the Mr Gasket intake gasket number 7276.

They cost around 19.00 from Summit. I figured I better order a new Foredom hand piece since I have been porting more lately. I had not having spares. Here are a few pictures of gasket layout and a couple getting opened up.

Sorry guys I just walked up to the shop and forgot the flow sheets. I have to rewrite them before posting so I will do that during the Cleveland Browns game tomorrow after some shopping. I did almost get 1/2 of this intake roughed in. Here are a couple before plenum pictures.

As you can see it has lots of straight sharp edges and air hates that, at least that’s what I’ve seem. Not finish yet but you can see some shaping starting to happen and radius’s being formed. Hart to get descent pictures of a dual plane especially by yourself.

Do you worry about the air coming from the intake “stalling” when it gets to the gasket and heads since the port appears to open so quickly right before the gasket area?

Thanks for doing this, looking forward to learning a lot!

Ohhh trust me every part of the runner will be worked. I’m surprised how well I’m able to reach in there. 6 inch burrs to the rescue.

So I guess there's a reason these are "less expensive?"

Ok flowsheet updated with flow numbers of a stock Speedmaster intake bolted on to a ported Speedmaster head. 50-100 plus horsepower lost running this intake on a good set of heads. Above each column is labeled as what the numbers are from.

Those chinese intakes are SMALL in X section...I removed one on a 430HP engine, put on an OOTB air gap and picked up 30HP and 20TQ. NO ****!

Sir, is there any chance you could test some other intakes? 7576 Edlebrock, Weiand Stealth, or any others? I know your time is valuable.

All I have here is a Victor340, super Victor, and modified to fit Indy intake but the ports are to big on it. I have that ugly azz Torquer intake that is listed on that sheet but if I get this Speedmster intake half dissent I won't be porting it.

Does your foredom handpiece allow you to use 1/4in carbide burrs?

Yes I always buy the 44T hand piece made for wood work. It comes with the smaller collets but I only use 1/4 inch burrs. I buy my motors used and again bought a couple spares. I finally had to change out a set of brushes in 2020.

Have you tried a burr finish? I’ve tried it before and didn’t like it, but I think I have the hang of it.

I have a nice stock 340 intake I'll give you. But...shipping....

I'd like to see how a weiand xcellerator does. I have one but its already had some work done to it and that would only give an idea of potential, but it wouldn't give a baseline or idea if it's a better bolt on over some other similar design.
