Speedo gears

If the speedometer stops working on our Mopar, how do we figure out what ?cable? and gear to get? I am not sure what my gear ratio is either. Thank you!

 

[Locomotion]

You can find out what gear is in it by pulling it out. They have the number molded into it and are in various colors.. You will dump some fluid and make sure you put the housing back in the same position.

More importantly, if you know what gear ratio is in the rear end and the actual overall height of the drive tires, you can use the chart to see if it's the correct gear.

The cable breaks more often than the gears strip. Not sure of an easy way to check the cable without disconnecting both ends. Could be in the dash.
