speedometer cable

I have a 72 Duster and I am having problems removing the speedometer cable from the gauge The white plastic piece moved down buy the cable will not pull out of the gauge.

There is a small lever type clip on one side of it. You have to find that and push down on the back side, it may help to push towards the cluster as you push down. Then pull back and it should come right off.
