splitting rims

I know you can split and enlarge steel rims, but can you do the same with alunimum ?

The rims are in my other post leaning up agains the car..

You will need a welder that can wled aluminium but other than that I don't see why it could not be done.
 
If you have access to a brake lathe you can cut it with that, then get a donor wheel that you can cut for the spacer. Find a local wheel shop or call Stocken wheel and explain what your doing and they can weld it up.

Just my two cents.
 
Stockton Wheel does widened steel wheels. I like Bills idea to. Cause you need to be pretty true with the weld, unless you just counter the wheel not being welded straigh with a bunch of weights.
 
Going out tomorrow to ask one shop that does steel wheels..I think this istoo important for me..an ammateur..to do it..

I just cannot figure out where these guysare buying their tires..

Aluminum is no problem to widen,yeah don,t think it'll be cheap
