Sprint car motors?

-
This has my fired up to watch the non wing cars next weekend and outlaws in October. I'll take this over nascar any day of the week.

Those non-wing guys can really put on a show. Separates the men from the boys. I have only been to one Nascar race at Phoenix and I would have to say that was one boring race. I much prefer dirt track racing over asphalt racing.

You wanna see non-wing? Watch anything to do with the Chili Bowl. Indoor sprint car non wing action. Cars piled on the track.

The non wing cars are crazy. You can't matt it, or you'll flip the car over.

chili bowl engines....... 1/2 a small block. MP actually had a closeout on the old midget blocks awhile back. They sold for pretty cheap and I've seen some for "resale" at a not so cheap price.

Ive always wanted to see a midget motor stuffed in a chrysler conquest

guys i am around at work complain about horsepower with there 4 bangers and how they need boost. Show them a midget motor and they are like "WTF out of an 8v without japanese junk written all over it, what have we been missing!"

Then i procede to tell them people who actually race and don't drift live off making horsepower and their mind explodes

My grandpa ran a winged sprint but never got a 340 in it before he had to retire. Wouldn't fit his frame so he ran SBC. Hillborn injection and all the goods. Prior to that he ran open wheel mods for years all MOPAR powered.

A good comparison on sprint car speed is look at eldora. The trucks compared to late models compared to a WoO show. Way faster

My good friend, retired Chrysler powertrain engineer Greg Charney, built his '68
Dart with a modified version of the MP sprint car engine. He drives it on the street
and it goes very low 10's at the strip. Greg had his car in our tent at the Nat's the
last two years.

The MP sprint car engine does not resemble the civilian A-motor in many respects,
especially the cylinder heads.

Just a quick update, if anyone cares, My last outing at the Dragstrip netted some 9 sec runs (9.97 @ 136 MPH) still on pump gas and driven to local shows and around town. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't drive it to Columbus from here, but nun the less, it el go down the road.
Still haven't spent much time on the 60' best was 1.5 . leaving a lot on the table there. I think i'll get some runs in this summer, stay tuned.

Which car is this ?? the blue dart??

410 ci grenade with the pin out. Years ago our "Open Wheel" division on the 1/3 mile clay was very liberal in the rules department. At least 1 BBC we used to see on a regular basis. Zoomies were not uncommon. The entire valley was tuned into that sweet sound on Saturday nights. 30 winged cars was the "usual" Saturday night show. I just got my first open wheel fix Saturday night for this season. Ironic that the "Horizontally challenged" (Midgets) were qualifying faster than the 360s. Track wasn't up to the horsepower yet, but it came around. There is a winged sprint show at the fairly nearby 5/8 asphalt track that I have just GOT to see this year.
