ok so we swaped to a 360 internal balanced motor knocked the weights off of the converter and when we tried to use the new B&M flex plate the starter was hitting the flex plate were using the stock flex plate now with no problems so whats the deal?

car is a 1974 swinger 360 internal balance with a stock 904

the starter was hitting the flexplate? well, maybe that starter needs to attend some anger management classes or at least sesitivity training. Seriously though, I dont know how that would happen unless it is for some weird application. (hemi?) I didnt think automatics had different size flexplates. Maybe packaging was wrong. Did the bolt holes line up on the convertor?

Could you have put it in backwards? Is there an offset to it from the crank face to the ring gear or would the crank bolt offset prevent that?

Ya the hole lined up it was like the plate was too big is a 727 flex and a 904 flex diffrent?

The 904 flexplate has two sets of holes both with 10.01" bolt circle. The 727 flexplate has 3 sets and is larger in diameter for a 11" Converter. Stock flexplate will work.

needed a mini starter from a 1988 diplomat just figured it out!!!!

the starter dosn't have anything to do with the flexplate. it runs on the ringgear. the flexplate has to match the convertor.
