Hello
My manual steering box in my 73 Dart has a lot of play
today I dropped the center link and when I grab the pitman arm I can feel a got amount of left/right play.
I tried to adjust the box, but no matter how much I turn the adjusting screw I cannot detect an improvement.
If I want to replace the box do I have to remove the steering column to get the box out?
Also the idler arm is quite loose where it goes into the K member. Are there shims or spacers to make this tight?
many thanks
George

There are two adjustments on that box. One sets the preload and the other
sets the mesh.

I bought a rebuilt box for 200 from Meridian auto in california. It's nice but the
box is too tight and I'll be resetting it in the spring.

They are easy to take out. Pop the pitman arm, slide the column back to
remove the coupler, drop the 3 bolts that hold the box in and she's out.

PM if you need any help.
