1971 Demon 340 H car, power steering box, adjusting the sector shaft end play, after loosening the lock nut, which direction do you turn the center adjustment screw to take out play/slack in the wheel, clockwise or counter clockwise?

I've searched and read threads but no definite answer, but I read there is danger of over adjusting and having the screw come out, a definite bad day thing. I could just try but not up for disaster...

Thanks, LarryM

Center the steering wheel. Loosen the nut and hold it. Turn the adjuster clockwise to tighten. When it bottoms out/stops- make it lightly snug. Then back off 1/4-1/2 turn and re-tighten nut.

As Del says, " better to have it two skoses too loose than one skose too tight!!".

It it's too tight it won't return to center on its own. It will stay where it's tracking until you manually move it.
