I have a 1971 dodge dart steering column floor shift, removed from the car, also steering wheel has been removed. can someone tell me how to remove the collars and ignition switch so i can blast and paint them? Thanks.

Its no small task to remove the collars the switch cylinder has a lock release hole that you push a small screw driver or i used a allen wrench i would try cleaning it up and tapeing it off if you dont have to take it apart i put a service manual picture in of the exploded view of the collars good luck

great diagrams moparmic. I agree any part that would wear can be replaced with out separating the housings. Tape it up and spray it!! Unless you wanna tear it apart its definitely a do able project just time consuming.

thanks my dad was a Chrysler/ Plymouth mechanic in the mid 60s-70s he left me all his manuals i call them the bible`s
