I'm taking out my steering column tonight so I can shorten it for use with a power stearing box... is there anything I need to know before I hit it with a BFG. where are these sheer pins located? are there any fasteners on the column I need to loosen or remove and tighten back up once the shaft is shortened to hold it in place. I don't want to damage my column. column is in a 72 demon

I've had some slide very easy and others that you would damage the collars
before they would move. On those I took the column apart to get them to the
correct length.

The spline in the end of the coupler is different manual to power.
No bolts or pins keeping the solid shaft from sliding in the hollow
shaft. They inject nylon thru the hollow tube into a machined groove
in the solid shaft. Its supposed to make it collapse easier and prevent
them from rusting together and acting as a solid shaft during a collision.
On the ones that don't move as easy it was due to the two parts having a interference
fit. The nylon they put in does nothing at this point. Luck of the draw part.
