Steering couple not reaching

Ok guys ...thanks so much for the helpful comments ....I did take the steering wheel column out and took it apart. Tapped the rod and gained 3/4 inch. Tested it and lined up the spline. Did catch the second set of spline and stopped. Took it out and ran a file as suggested and clean up on the column and box .... that was the cats meow and success. I may have got some spray paint in the inside of the couple .... again ...thanks guys
