steering help please

I picked up a 73 duster the steering is very loose while driving is there a way to tighten it up.
there is about a 2 in. free play in the steering wheel where nothing happens total newbee

you will have to check all your steering components ...a good starting point may be loose steering box bolts

Likely the steering coupler between the steering box and shaft (column) is assembled wrong - check to see of there is excessive play there, should be almost none. Next likely is a worn out box or pitman / idler arms.

Or sector shaft endplay.

Have someone wiggle the steering wheel back and forth and see what's moving and what's not.

Make sure that the steering box bolts are tight. There was a thread here earlier this week and it turned out that the steering box bolts were loose and the holes in the steering box got egg shaped.
