The steering wheel in my 70 duster (slant six, automatic on the column) squeaks when turning left. Not always, but often enough, and it's really annoying. I took a video, of course it mostly stopped doing it while I was recording... but you can hear the squeak in the video (it's usually worse).

Anyone dealt with this and can give me guidance on how best to fix it?

I'd pull the wheel and see if anything is rubbing. The horn contact where it meets the wheel can make noise, so can the shaft bearing or a loose housing.

I suspect the horn contacts also . The carbon contact design found in later models dont squeak. Yours is more likely the earlier design ( a little roller on a stick ). I suppose the upper bearing could squeak but they usually growl when gone bad.

You'll probably need a steering wheel puller The horn contacts are right there behind the wheel.
