with vacuum secondaries, nah. it'll run just right. and if you upgrade down the line (cam, headers) it'll compliment those changes nicely. You don’t think 750 is too much carb?

68-9 best years of the 318 as it came from the factory.Mine is a 68 318 all stock
That manifold uses the larger '70 and up 1" bypass fitting- you'll have to remove it and get a reducer and a 3/4" barb fitting for it to work on your '68.I found this set up that I can buy for under $300. But it has a 570 DP. This 570 may be a bit small?

No...Imo, if that carb is in good shape, that's a great price. Keep in mind, the stock 318 cam is all done at 5k, so it would be a fine upgrade for what you have now.Oh I see that now.. is that a bad thing?
If your heads are from the same time period as the block, then a plus would be having hardened valve seats. My heart sank today when, in the course of mapping out changing motor mounts, I was able to clean the area that has the production date cast onto it for my supposed "68" 318 as was described by the seller. 1-10-73 is just a bit off from 1968. There goes my extra compression point. I suppose with early 273 heads, it wouldn't have mattered much. Just chaps my back side for not checking to begin with.
