I know when I took it off the engine that the coil was mounted horizontal, side to side, and pointed at the distributor. I plan to put the coil in the same place if possible, but I dont remember how it attaches. I have the old coil bracket, but it doesnt look stock... looks like someone took a universal one and tried to hack it into place.

Any pictures? I looked around, no luck so far.

Original factory coil and mounting bracket....

The mounts are cast into the intake and one bolt will be higher than the other. So you need a bracket that has staggered mounting bases.

I will try to get a pic ... It is pretty straight forward.

Meh... I did find a thread on here about the intake I am using. Looks like I probably need to use a 340-6 relocation bracket or bolt it to the firewall.

Or make my own.

Here is the factory replacement one.

That bracket does not look correct. I have a 69 340 4-speed as the one in the picture. The dash pot gives it away. It's close, but one end has a bent to it, but the location is correct. Mine also is not painted. More like the one in the photo. Do not install it on the firewall, because the movement of the motor could pull the wire loose from the coil or cap.

Canister coils really should be mounted vertically. I don't know why Chrysler ever mounted them horizontally.

This is a stepped extension. I've only seen these on early A Bodies.
This one is on a ‘70 340 dual plane and looks like it’s been mounted here since day one. JMO

Same intake showing casting date and part number.
