Found this while looking for stock spring size for 67 273 commando.
Paul was a wealth of knowledge and willing to share it.

I'd say those spring pressures probably ideal engineer specs, but by the time they made it off the off the assembly line the numbers were less. I changed cams and springs, and pulled some pretty low milage performance era motor stock springs and checked them with maybe like 30k orig miles and they were considerably less on big block Magnum and small block 340 motors. Looking at my old notes, no closed 129# springs for BB Magnum red springs w/damper, more like a 105#s.

Just like any spring, once broken in loses about 10%. That's why I choose about 10% more seat pressure than needed.
