My dad just had his 65 stolen. It's blue with white vinyl top, slant six, Dutra duals and 2bbl. Auto, nicely restored. Has small bolt pattern mag wheels- kind of a lace pattern. Haven't seen them anywhere else.
If anyone hears anything, let us know.
It was stolen from the Chiloquin, Klamath Falls Oregon area.

My dad's car was recovered last night. It was in the middle of nowhere on some motorcycle trails. They stole the wheels, seats, radio, sun visors and rear view mirror. All told, it wasn't too bad. They didn't beat up the body.
The seats are fairly unique- stock frames with custom upholstery: light blue vinyl with white piping, centers were fabric in a plaid pattern.
The mags are small bolt pattern, polished outers with black mesh pattern centers. 14" with Firestone white letter tires.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open.

Great to hear your dad got it back!

Sucks to hear what the thieves took off it. Sounds like they knew what they were after.

Wow, sort of a happy ending, at least they didnt beat the body up. I hate when people disrespect other peoples property. Sorry bout his loss at least it wasnt worse like finding a burned out shell.

I know this may be closing the gate after the horse ran away, but what about wiring in an ignition kill switch?

Its easy to do, and lots of neat spots to hide one.

My 69 charger R/T i used to have had one hidden in a gutted cigarette lighter housing. It was a push in turn on, push in turn off type. I think i got it at radio shack. I wired it into my ignition hot wire to the coil. The cool thing about it was i was able to keep the lighter in the socket to hide it. I also used to pop the dist cap, and put the rotor in my pocket whenever i had to park it somewhere.

You can even splice it into the balllast resistor wiring too.

If you do wire one up, i recommend wrapping the wires in the stock harness, running them thru the stock bulkhead connectors with some packard GM 56 terminals so it looks factory.

Thieves are thieves because they are dumb, but if they can hot wire a car they can spot non stock wiring hanging under a dash, and follow it to a hidden switch. This is why i recommend hiding it in the stock harness.

Those aluminum laced wheels in your pix look to be vintage appliance mags. A rare wheel indeed, prob harder to find in a SBP pattern. Again sorry for your loss.

I wonder if we should get rid of this thread ? just in case they come here to sell these parts. :glasses7:

Memike is thinking like MAGnum PI.

I agree....dump this thread and start a wanted thread.

The car has been recovered but not the parts stolen off it. I say wait till the parts pop up on here, then contact the "seller" and go meet with them to "buy" your parts back, and take a louisville slugger with you, along with your cell phone to call the police.

I agree, But I think we should delete this thread ! Does anyone ells ??:glasses7:

Why not edit the title to reflect the stolen parts?

Well, I was just thinking if anyone seen this thread that did steal this car they will not try and post the stolen parts here for sale :glasses7: I may be thinking to much , The criaig list add will expire sometime, I will pm the OP of this thread and see what he thinks :glasses7:

X2.

If this thread does not exist then someone trying to sell stolen parts wont be tipped off.

Not a bad idea, but chances are those parts will wind up in a pawn shop for quick cash or on craigslist before too long.

Or, someone might wind up at one of the local swap meets trying to unload 'em. The more word spreads that these parts were stolen and they do pop up somewhere the more people will be able to recognize them and get a hold of the local constabulary.

Good point ramenth :glasses7:

I think the thread can stay. Not sure what they'd do, probably try to sell local. They also stole another local car, a 69 Roadrunner. It was also recovered.

They stole a gun from the house as well and that was found up north near Portland. Parts may be headed that way. It sounds like this was bigger than just two guys- like there is a ring where these items are passed.

All told, it didn't turn out too bad.

Glad you got your car back, we are the lucky ones! I never got a bunch of my parts back, and still un-dicking the wagon, but at least it's back home.
