Stop in for a cup of coffee

The 5 year old daughter comes home from the baby sitter's during summer vacation. Sitter has a 19 year old daughter that is on summer break from her freshman year at college. 5 year old walks in the door and starts singing "The Lumberjack Song" start to finish. I was shocked, thrilled, and laughing my *** off. The wife saw no humor in it whatsoever.

LOL, we got in buckets of trouble for my Patrol singing and acting out the skit during Boy Scouts at the Summer Camp Talent Show when I was 12 years old.

Since I was the Patrol leader, they chastised me and said I should have known it wasn’t appropriate.

I did...I just didn’t care!

We weren't exactly the cherubic little Scouts in advertisements either  My troop had a bit of a reputation in our council.

Yeah, the BSA was schizophrenic as far as I was concerned. I got in a bunch of hot water for skipping lunch and dinner during Summer camp even though I did it because I was hiking and fishing the streams and lake and cooking my catch for my meals.

They wanted us to be able to be self sufficient and capable of surviving in the woods...but not at the expense of missing the group meals of Army surplus food they served in the mess hall??

They were also pissed that I earned my survival merit badge and never ate the single raw egg they gave me for the 3 days I spent alone in the woods. Why would I? I was having fire cooked sunfish and wild berries for dinner. I didn’t have time to mess with a single raw egg.

I didn’t last more than 2 Summers of that BS.

I used to love the great outdoors, dont know what happened.
I would go touring around in the bush, rock climbing and climbing trees.
About 12 years old and all alone. Im talking cottage country but 40 plus years ago so it was pretty much wilderness. Bears, wolves, coyotes never even crossed my mind. I would go into the bush and walk a couple miles.
I dont do outside if i dont have to now.

Snowing again

We supposed to get high winds again. Still the daytime high is colder than the normal low for this time of year.
