For quite a while only still images were posted on the news feeds over the internet. I didn't have a TV hooked up, even then.

Math class was just about to start, Freshman year of highschool. Kid came running in, told our teacher to turn on the tv, he did, we saw a tower on fire, about 45 seconds later right as he was reaching to turn it off, we saw the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower. Teacher dropped the remote in his hand and just sat down on the floor right there. We'd watch the rest of the day's events in every class. After school, I met with my SAR team and we marshalled aircraft at the local airport , which was the emergency airport for Indy international, we parked dozens of jets from Leers up to 737s. We also helped marshal F16s that were patrolling the skies and needed refueled. I got home late that night.
I somehow stayed calm throughout. Dad was in Richmond, VA for work and was supposed to be flying home on US Airways that very morning. He said they'd just called for him to board and was just getting seated in 1st class when the pilot stopped the boarding. Said something had happened and they were being stopped from boarding. He decided to go and rent a car, drove home that afternoon. I didn't know until I got home around 10-11 pm that night if he'd been ok. I hadn't heard the airlines at that point that were involved.

I was at the rock farm. The only info we had was what we got from truck drivers and their radios. As soon as I heard the news I knew it wasn't an accident, then came the 2nd strike. A friend of mine was working at the Pentagon at the time, called in sick that day, his office was destroyed.
I was at work with AT&T, on Camp Pendelton. What a mess. All assholes and elbows getting into a war stance. After that, getting on that base was a PITA. HI security is an understatement. My wife works for the state, they sheltered in place, no one knew what was happening...like the rest of the country. Changed the world for the worse IMO. Homeland security was a mistake, a direct knee jerk reaction to the unknown.........still with us.....

So, one last thing on 9/11 that week. So the group I was part of was Civil Air Patrol, the New York wing of it were the only aircraft outside of military aircraft allowed in the sky those first few days. Reason was, we had ground mapping radar that could tell you where bodies/victims were in the rubble. The very first images and mapping were done by Civil Air Patrol and that next night, I got to see those images, before most of the public did.

I looked at the NWS national map this morning. Surprisingly devoid of large Warning/Hazard areas. Kansas-South Dakota border looks like it might have a challenging day. Mid 70s for us and the wind is going to calm some today, only 25mph 
. Little brush fire just south of here, they seem to have a handle on it. A couple of the photos show a CalFire dozer cruising on Hwy 101, a recently paved Hwy 101. Another photo shows the exact same focus point without the dozer. The new pavement is all marked up with dozer tracks and the fresh asphalt berm is AFU 
. Three small fires in the same area at the same time. Can you say arson?

@Mattax, I have no idea why you experienced this with the low beam adjusted correctly, and experienced the high beams to be too high. It did not used to be like that. I have had many of these conversions, and all of them have been fine. But, I have seen the examples you mention, but not on my own cars exept maybe my Mercedes W123 series. But it did not have sealed beam style headlamps at all. Now, it is obvious that you can not adjust the low beam as it should be, and then adjust the high beam later, unless you have 4 lamps but that is a different thing. So, it must be some error in the production that causes this. Then, when you say you adjusted them correctly, I don't know what that means. I always adjust them against a wall, with the car 15 feet from the wall. And the height of the cut off line on the wall at 90% of the height from the road up to the center of the headlamp. That means the low beams will shine 150 feet forward, and that is what they are made for. Some extends it to 16 feet from the wall and still 90%, but then I suspect you start getting a darker road with high beams. In the older days I think they used only 13 feet from the wall, which gives 130 feet of light with low beam. The cut off line on the ECE lamps are supposed to be very sharp over on the wall. A straight line to the left of the center of the lamp, and then a 15 degree angle upward light, and then you have the same pattern over at the other light.

Anyway, yesterday I was in Ukiah to pick up my dark turquoise paint for the dash, seems very flat, no glossy at all. So, I wonder if I am just going to keep it that way, and not add anything talcum powder to it or so.
Uneventfull trip for the most part, except a rube that was behind me, went over to the right lane just before an intersection, and passed me and back to my lane, all withing the intersection. What is going on in peoples mind ? I just don't get it. Sadly we have no police in this area anymore so people drive as they please and then some.
Has anyone ever tried to spray glossy clear coat over a flat one stage paint to make it glossy ? Is that even possible ?

I did go and see George last week. Talked for about an hour. Made sure he understood I need the car done and back soon. He promised to be in paint and back to me in six weeks. Metal is all done and most of it is in primer. He needs to attach fenders and block it out, and paint. So not too terrible.

Buddy’s body shop has a T-Bird sitting in the corner. Same deal. I keep harassing him to get it done. I want to put my barracuda in its place and go work on it. I even offered to work on the T-bird to move it along.

I don't see any reason you couldn't do that with clear. I would let it dry and scuff it upp with like 220 sandbaper.
Or, what I did with mine. I sprayed the whole thing with flat. Actually what you want on the area under the windshield so it doesn't reflect on the glass. Then I 'buffed' everything below the pad with a white, scotchbrite type finishing pad to get a low gloss

They have lots of blood sugar spiking retail establishments in Solvang I did some wheels on my dunes buggy many years ago with the aluminium rattle cans. Decided it was too flat and shot some clear over it. It got that dimpled look, which I liked anyway.
