Stop in for a cup of coffee

Is the ECU boxes possible to open and repair ?

Pretty sure all the originals are 'potted' . Some kind of resin/plastic goo filled from back over all the electronics. Often see it all oozing out down the inner fender. Especially in junk yard cars. So, I guess it can be melted off somewhat completely. Would be a real mess to work on if it's possible.

. Also stopped by Homely Depo for a bag of grass.

Fixed....

Ok, I have been out and about again, looking for the right vinyl for my fourth armrest that has been missing since I bought the car. Well, I was lucky and found a 100% match at the first upholstery shop I went to, and they had almost a yard, and I paid $20 for it. It really made my day.

Not to burst your bubble, but the grain on the new stuff is a little more coarse than the original.... :poke:

But it is very close...

It's like the Bio Rythems of our system, when they are all at the bottom of the cycle we feel like crap. When they are all at the top of the cycles we feel indestructable.

Middle of the cycles it's just a normal day.

Hope you get back to feeling normal in a day or two.

Are you implying that Rob is having his period??? :poke:

Have to kill an hour before customer shows up. So i figured i would hang out here. Made a coffee.
I did drag fargo in and install new starter, and hooked coil up.has good spark,so give it some gas. Its firing, but kind of weak. Guess i should pull valves and lap em. 20 plus psi oil pressure while cranking, a good sign.

Gotta love when the exhaust tip and the bumper are so shiny clean that it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins.

The gray texture in the reflection is the insulation panel on the garage door behind the car.

With no PCV valve, it is likely leaking out of the valve cover and hitting the exhaust manifold. That will give a smell like you describe. It's not the same smell as oil out the tailpipe. I would inspect it very closely, find the leak (I feel sure it has one) fix it and add a PCV valve. Also look at the oil filler cap as it has a breather element in it. If that has failed, it will be dumping oil residue on the valve cover.

Here is how it looks like.

Man I hope so. I got some depression goin on again, I know that much. There's no reason for it. Cooler weather is here so I can actually do something....and I am doing some small stuff. I don't know what da deal bees.

I have to have my wife look at it, she is better at than me for that. But, I see what you say, but when I turn it around and move it a little it looks different and more the same. And the color shade is also changing. Now, the vinyl in the car has been sitting out in the sun, and I do not know for how long. If that can ruin the similarity.

My 15 year old daughter (who loves helping me work on the GTS) came out to the garage a little while ago after school to see how I made out with detailing this afternoon since she wants to cruise with me tomorrow.

She looked everything over and gave me her nod of approval. Then she looked at the tires again and said “They all look a little soft, are you going air them up before we ride tomorrow?”

Yep, they are all down at 25 lbs from sitting for so long. I’m surprised she caught it.

I guess I taught her well...and nothing gets past her. :)

That's great that she has such an interest in our old cars... :steering:

You've taught her well...
