Sure quiet in here

I didn't go to a party I was supposed to......i stayed home to change u joints.

Pics to follow

It will work but you will need to make a bracket for the down shaft at trans case because the re doesn't have the location ears

When i put the big block in the 59 dodge, i built all the linkage and brackets. Was an a-body console. 727 of course, but the idea was the same. Its not
That difficult. But i didnt take pics and it was like 3 years ago.

Well freaking frack......I should have went out tonight and forgot this car.

I could swear I measured 51 inches

I could swear I did the math and it came it to 51 inches.

The front yoke is bottomed out and the driveshaft is too long.

Pretty much the same car. I was wondering what was going on.

41 inches is ten inches shorter. That is a lot. There is no way 41 inches will ever reach. I could see a couple inches different but 10 inches ..... no way..

This driveshaft I have is 51 and like 3/8" it's a little longer than 51 exact.

I think it would work if it were an inch and a half to 2 inches shorter.

So the 49 and change is the one, has to be

but 10 inches ..... no way..
First time a woman ever said that!
Why am I the first to say that?? Do you really think a driveshaft 10 inches shorter would really fit??

That's a lot of driveshaft when it looks like 49 might fit right.

Talking nasty while I am being serious about cars would cause you to be out in the dog house and the dog in the house on the couch, so I can talk car to the dog. :mob:

For a 2nd gen Plymouth A-body:
51 " would be about right for 3 speed manual, or a 904 with a small dif.

from the '68 Plymouth FSM
Manual Transmission 3-speed; 170, 225, 273, 318 C.I. Engines 7 1/4" Axle
51.43"

Automatic Transmission;
170, 225, 273, 318 C.I. Engine 7 1/4" Axle
51.43"

Driveshaft length given from centerline of front yoke bearing bores to
the centerline of the rear bearing bores.

I was under the impression a 904 is same length as a 3 speed which is also the same as a 4 speed.

I guess the goof up here is that I have an 8.25 rear.

So it's a 360(318 originally) 904 and 8.25. 74 duster

Seems to be correct
3 speed which is also the same as a 4 speed.
Same FSM shows the driveshaft with the 4 speed shorter - but it also was only used with the 8 3/4 axle.
Probably need to look through the D.C. Bulltins for transmission lengths. Maybe in the one on engine swaps.

Probably have to look in a '73 up FSM.
727 is definately longer than 904.

273, 318 C.I. Engine 8 3/4" Axle
49.27"
340, 383 C.I. Engines 8 3/4" Axle
44.88"

The last driveshaft I bought I did like you - measured on the car. I bought from Denny's so probably just used the diagram on their website.
I also had the driveshaft I had been using so that and the books served as double and triple check.

Is the dart sport shorter? I dont think so. 75 duster i have is way shorter, it has a 727.

I have a 72 dart that was an original 3 speed A 230 with 8.75. When I put a 4 speed in it, I kept the same driveshaft only changed the yoke on the front for the 30 spline output on the 4 speed.

When I swapped a 4 speed into a charger, I also used the same driveshaft and yoke.. a 727 and B/E 4 speed are the same length.

This duster is the first time a driveshaft has stopped me like this one.
