At the chrysler dealer, the owner backed into the lathe with the towtruck one morning. .020 at the end of the shaft. That machine was used daily back in the 80’s. set it up, and do the brakes while its running,was an easy routine that added $120 to a brake job. And wouldnt fix it.
I got it apart and had the machinist make a new shaft. Couple hundred bucks and it was running again...

He needs to get a brake drum Mic for them, and a rotor silencer band, other than that he is pretty good to go.
The gm rear rotors with the drum in them did not machine well. There was no way to keep them from ringing,and bits would chatter.
Think my drum /rotor lathe is ammoco. Rotor lathe needs some work. Have to find the manual. Got it somewhere. i have only used the drum lathe maybe 12 times. For $200 i couldnt go wrong..
There is a pissing match going on I think on FEBO about cutting drums. All started some one saying they want to get their new drums cut before putting them on. Holy shitstorm sherlock. We always did that back in the day and arched the shoes to match also, just part of the brake job. I have NOS drums I acquired for the cuda really tempted to bring them over to Kens and just lightly hit them to show the out of round new. Man that would get ten pages of crap I bet over there.
That's a score. I see them on occasion with most of the adapters on that govt auction site but have no place to put one.
Any mention of drums warping if not shelved correctly?
I had a Winona Van Norman 205c machine for 20 years at the main store. When I sold out to Carquest, they didn't want it. So I bought it for $500 along with the Van Norman FG5000 flywheel machine. Have them in a buddys shop, up and running....

I know that. Mark hooked me up with NOS 9" Mopar drums for the cuda, he had a bunch of them on a pallet along with some others. You never know what that guy will find. He also found a NOS Master for the Cuda in another pallet of stuff. Have to love the surplus business.

Good Morning ALL! Big windstorm had our power knocked out for 3 days. Got some good pics but data to slow to download. Got my covid results, negative, so went back to work, missed first day of storm but not last 2.

I could rig up my toolpost grinder from my metal lathe and grind flywheels on my drum lathe. Would have to motorize the cross feed. I just go to machine shop,way easier.
