Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
Well in theory today is the day my two post lift delivers. I ordered it in November. But I also need to backfill ditches we dug this weekend for gutter drains and elec service. I will be glad to get house hot. Right now I just have heavy wire stretched across the ground from box to well house. Once house is hot I can run wire i have prepared from house to well house. I lost a whole week of progress last week to the instructors block I was teaching.
I am jealous, my garage isn't high enough for a lift.. I have always worked on my back (in a gravel driveway as a kid) so it doesnt' bother me THAT much.. but as i get older it's starting to wear on me :)

Morning all bikes and coffee a great start to a Monday.
I rode as a kid up to when I was 19. I had a heck of a wreck that I walked away from.
I had a Kawasaki 900 a drunk pulled out in front of me I was doing 40.
I hit him broadside and had enough time to push off the foot pegs and go over the car. Ripped the front fork off but I walked away without a scratch.
I tried riding again, but it just wasn't fun anymore.
Thats why i never wanted to get a street bike. Same thing happened to my nephew, had a passenger on the back, she ended up in pretty bad shape. Life altering for her.
I enjoyed riding 2 stroke dirt bikes, love the powerband.

I have had one for many years as I just got to banged up to roll around on the floor. But when we sold our house the lift became a bargaining chip and we had to leave it behind. I told wife that was fine but make no mistake it will get replaced.

I miss riding SOOO much... i swear nothing feels better than being on a motorcycle.. My last bike was a BMW r1100r which i LOVED soo much BMW makes amazing bikes, i had 1 friend die, another in a wheelchair and another all tore up in one summer... I drove to the dealer and said write me a check.. and never rode again. Riding scared isn't good... and i like being able to walk :)

I have had 2 cars fall on me (one was my challenger and my fault, and was pretty funny how i did it) and i get super paranoid under cars now... Jackstands are my friend :) Although i got so used to working under my 62 that it doesn't bug me now..

Just glad you were wearing a helmet... I had a nasty mountain bike crash 2 years ago and shattered my left shoulder (All plastic/metal from collar bone to elbow now) and actually broke my helmet.. i used to almost never wear one.. i am sure glad i did that day. The non stop pain and tingling from nerve damage is getting old though :) When i slide under my car and hit the right angle it's like lightning
I tell you what, that sounds terrible, my right shoulder was damaged in the first grade as I was chasing a girl, feel head first 11 fat of the top of a slide, broke all my bones above my wrist, had three casts by the time it healed, 3 day hospital stay.
As I got older and started working at age 9, (mom and dad divorced) lived like a Gipsy the next ten years fallowing the crops, shoulder surgery at age 48, 6 weeks of recovery.. nothing like shoulder pain, goes to your neck, and hand pain.. but its doing good now, its the left ones turn soon.

I was very lucky. I remember the police officer showing up and asked where the driver was. I said I'm the driver and he said no the motorcycle and we stood there looking at it in two pices. I said that's me. He looked at me then the bike and said "how".
I always thought based on a couple other people I knew going over the car might be better than slamming into it.
A lady who reported as a witness said I went over the car about 10-15 feet in the air and landed on my feet and fell back on my butt...just like Hollywood she said...LOL!!
It was cold that night, so I was wearing a helmet that helped a lot because I did fall back and hit my head on the pavement.
I had a few motorcycle accidents but thankfully at lower speed. Two times I dropped them and the peg went into the leg just above the knee. Still have bad veins and scars from that. But riding in Vietnam is completely different. Much slower, but need to keep your head on a swivel
