Stop in for a cup of coffee

Another day if not doing chit.
My nephew was going to come over and clean up the koi pond, with his Buddy.
Nope already starting to rain again.
 
Lots on my plate today, three dist, some shipping, and have to research a 64 distrib that has a really weird Prestolite # got it from that pic for parts then the guy tells me it came from Petty enterprises. RB dual point. Could be something special.

Think I'll clean the garage today and do a bit of organizing.
 
Good morning coffee crew. Question for Fred. I have old vintage embossed street signs that I’m going to repaint. What’s the trick for painting the letters?

Morning Pete, Not sure but masking around the letters seems like the best way.
 
I’ve done that in the past, very time consuming. I have over 15 to do, guess I have no problem finding something to do. Thanks
 
How it was done was a roller. After the sign is painted take a small roller but not overloaded with the white and a steady hand just touch the embossed.
 
I’ve tried that with no good results a few years ago. I was a painter by trade.

I have seen the license plate guys do it with a solid rubber roller like a old printer would spread ink on the letters?

Acid brush and carefully apply grease or Vasaline around the letters.
Wipe Tham clean when the paint s dry

Another idea Pete, this is fiberglass mold release that is a liquid that you spray on using a spray gun.
It dries into a plastic film and easily comes off with water. Damp rag and wipe it off the letters then paint the letters and after it dries just wash the sign. Might want to try a test piece first.

Looking at today's weather Gale Warning so rain that blows at 27mph with gusts to ? Glad I'm working in shop, swapping out those tweeters I had tested in a lab yesterday. Guy was interesting, an audio enthusiast who met and flew on Paul Klipsch's plane riding shotgun! He has pics to prove his early visits to the Klipsch factory in Hope Arkansas
