Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good stuff. I am also working on my trunk junk. Put a couple pics on my build thread tonight. How long is that carriage bolt? I need a 6.5, and don't care about the threads.
Cruzing through your thread it looks like you had just about as much rust as me to deal with.

So Keefer, do you want it? I'm replacing it with one that's 6" long so it won't stick up above the cover board and poke up into the trunk mat. I found what I need at a local hardware store and going to pick it up tomorrow and I could grab one for you too if you prefer one that length.
Regular carriage bolts have a smaller head than what originals do. I think mine is a 3/8 bolt, and I know the head is wider. They will work, but think it could pull through if overtightened.

The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Shortening is no problem. Is it 3/8"? If so, I could probably make it use able again.
It is a 3/8" The threads aren't very bad, just need cleaning up a little. Since I need a shorter one anyway I wasn't going to bother.

Regular carriage bolts are just a little smaller in diameter but I plan to add a couple of washers and a nut to hold it in place so it should be fine. Besides, a flopping around bolt makes it a pain to put the tire in the well. They should have anchored it with a nut from the factory.

Kids in the back seat cause accidents; accidents in the back seat cause kids.
yea I was thinking of adding a 3 rd row seat to the wagon but if you get rear ended it might not be safe for kids or people on that last seat so accidents are a huge concern. they show videos of accidents in the back seat and the kids go flying out the back window and run over by the car behind or even more horrific.

73 had completely different arm rest and base setups than 72 and back ....they might bolt up interchange but are different

I have the 73 Swinger to donate its goodies. I'll take the best of the two and make what i can. Should turn out decent without sinking an a$$load of cash in her.. paint and weatherstripping are looking like the biggies right now.. full weatherstrip kits get pricey...
