Stop in for a cup of coffee

Hey folks!

Just came up from the garage after shortening my valve cover bolt threads, making custom washers and getting the valve covers on.

OK it is thong Thursday you know....

I see them Anders - hey, that bypass hose needs to be trimmed a bit. I know you're just going for a quick ride, but the kink in it is going to cause you trouble. Nice job on the valve covers!!

Yeah, I'll be cutting that fitting a bit. I don't want to remove it because the threads in the intake are garbage and I put it there with thread sealant. I'll jam something in the hole and use my angle grinder, I think.

Well getting there the first pic is the gauges I will swap to the newly painted case.

last pic are the meters somewhat cleaned up and the lenses fixed.

It is just on there for now, still have to finish up the top side of the scoops, big PIA have to assemble the mechanisms again and cycle the crap out of them to figure where the top plate will actually be mounted. Really have to take it off again to do it right.

one of the first real lessons I got related to fitting custom parts and what a PITA it is... Mike O'Connell (my you RIP sir!) who owned Mike's Speed in Belchertown Ma. was building an old panel truck and I would stop in to see him for advice on my car - he took me into the garage and showed me the truck and during the conversation said something to the effect of "the hardest part of any build is having to fit a custom made part - you have to take it off and put it back on over and over again, and it can really suck depending on the piece" - IIRC he was doing a rear end for it at the time - I still think of that whenever I am doing something that isn't going as quickly as I would like...

I really want to get these machine and cabinets painted before the weather gets cold, the paint is pretty heavy on the fumes and the heater I use is a torpedo so it is a open flame do not think that would work out to well.
