Stop in for a cup of coffee

They withdrew the punitive part of that proposal.
yeah but the thought to try to sneak it in to the bill in the first place?

And they were never going to put people in jail for using straws. It was to make it illegal to give straws to customers unless they asked for one.
potato/ potatoe

Nah, it’s not any different than areas under water restriction making it illegal for a restaurant to give water to customers unless they ask. No automatic filling of water glasses at the table.

no doubt. Question is... when will people finally have enough of these "taxes"

I'm there already.....3.50 a gallon here for diesel because of a new Tax, ERRR Fee......with no vote. :BangHead:
Here's the thing... I'm not saying i want it to happen, I don't. But as a student of history, there is going to be a breaking point between citizens and those in "charge". It will happen here eventually. We are not immune to the fundamentals and I'm a firm believer that history repeats itself.

It doesn't quite repeat itself. But it cycles. Current trends will change. But where will it go next?

The difference between now and history is that this country elects all of its government. Those in charge are the ones we put there. They can be replaced at the next election.

There is no “them”...it’s only us. The only breaking point is during elections.

you truly believe that they can be replaced? with what? more of the same.

Florida does have some advantages though. No state income tax and you can Homestead your house. No yearly property tax on vehicles like some states.
Tennessee is the same way. The cost of living is low too. Our house there is 3000 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 car garage in a nice neighborhood...and has a current market value of $200k. Property and school taxes are around $2k combined annually.

Vacation home?

It’s up to the people who they elect so there is no one to blame but the voters who put them in office.
yep, and most people are just plain stupid and vote simply cause of an R or a D or heck, even an L behind someone's name.

Because 'we' are not on the ballot. Or we can't tell when we are. So we continue to put people in power who don't live like we do (rich politicians) Most of whom barely understand our issues and will lie to make us believe they do. Nothing new.
