So. Long day. Decided to nap a few minutes. I swear 30 seconds after i fell asleep the wife is yelling theres someone at the door. It never fails. Used to yell at the kids the moment i dozed off.

Jeez, stupid followed me home from work tonight.

The CEO is in Australia. 2 hours ago he starts pinging emails and texts. He wants us to formulate some new things but instead of saying “Hey guys, here’s what I want to see if we can do”, he ignores the fact that we have over 90 years of expert experience in innovative formulation between us and just tells us what to go put together a formulation of his imagination which he has zero experience to justify.

So instead of letting his expert guys work the request and report back what can or can’t be done, he just spews formulation recommendations.

It has gone like this so far...

Him: Go sign a contract with one of our vendors to put this formulation together next week.

Us: That formulation won’t work since the materials are incompatible.

Him: I will have someone here send you alternatives for the materials

30 mins later, materials information is sent.

Us: That information shows that the materials aren’t compatible and it can’t be done that way.

Him: Can’t you just use this other form of the material and just do this?

Us: No, that doesn’t change anything regarding compatibility and those materials aren’t acceptable for pharmaceutical use anyway.

Now it’s silent...but I just know he is searching the internet or finding another talking head to find something that lets him make another stupid recommendation on how to do what he wants.

His lack of respect for expertise is a huge part of the reason I want to be done with him. 3 experts and all saying the same thing, and he still wants to run the show like he knows what he’s talking about and beat on anyone who tells him that he is wrong.

His ignorance is exceeded only by his arrogance.

Yikes

Ddaddy can you just tell him... If you want to accomplish this, then these are the materials that would be compatible and in order to do it, this needs to be researched. Might I suggest that X, Y and Z are the people that could research the method/availability or whatever?

Nope, it’s not that simple. What he is trying to do requires technology that doesn’t exist. For us to even begin to try to solve the problem requires an investment of over a year and at least a thousand hours of time plus a million dollars of investment...and that just to answer the question of “Is it possible?”

Had he presented the problem and asked for an analysis, we would have put together a comprehensive evaluation that tells him what is possible and what it takes to find out. Instead we are engaged in a banter of stupidity telling him no every time he opens his mouth. He won’t take the time for a full discussion and just wants to do it in limited texts and emails.

Beyond stupid.
