Ok. I got curious.
New cars have a new refrigerant.
R1234yf.
Its 100 times more expensive than R134.
Its flammable. (Propane comes to mind.)
When it burns, its toxic.
Requires a new recycler/recovery machine.

Dupont's patent must have ran out on R134.

Nice day here... Taking pics of my Corvette parts...Thinking about selling it.....

Ut Oh! The Force has been disturbed! My son in law has apparently been bitten by the lethal "Hot Rod Bug". He's looking at pre smog D100s. Doesn't really surprise me, much. He drives a '14 Ram 1500 almost exactly like my '13. Scarey.

Dropped transmission out of dart.
Pulled cooler lines and water came out:rofl:
I knew it was junk....
I should gut it and the kaboomed block and have something for mocking up...

Well inside for the afternoon. I didn't do much this morning, cleaned up the garage, put tools away, etc...and ran a couple errands. Drove 30 miles down the highway to a small town where some buddies had gone to a nice car show. Visited with old friends and came home. The wife told me to have a Gatorade, so I did and added a few shots of Tito's....yummmm!!

Mitch I have the same fear from time to time, but I remind myself its never happened. I drive like a little old lady in the old cars and never take any chances. Long run its also why we have insurance.

I've wondered to when will I be to old to drive the cars. I feel 20 years younger than I am (61) so figure if the health stays good I have a good 20 years to go. Funny talking to the wife about the garage. I told her this year build the garage, next year add the lift, then the man cave. She looked at me and said why put it off, just do it all now and enjoy. Pinch me, I'm dreaming...no I'm a LUCKY guy!!

Just came home from a Grad party. The young 25yr old guy in the Apt. just finished his schooling. Now He's a journeyman. He is also a car guy , with a 69 GTO. His head is screwed on strait. I have no doubt , he will do well. Very ambitious. Reminds me of my younger self......./:thumbsup:
