Stop in for a cup of coffee

It's a long story but apparently the tech that installed my tires just got caught skipping the balancing of the tires when mounting... all 4 of my tires were never balanced. The expired tire was out of balance in 3 places by a combine 2.75 ounces . The other 3 were each out of balance by less than an ounce each but still out. Apparently the tech is required to put a print out from the machine in each customer file, he hadn't been for the entire time he'd work there, guess he started a couple weeks before Memorial Day . So when questioned it, he confessed but the owner fired him anyway. The assistant manager got demoted back to tech and gets to call every customer that kid did work on and get them back in for a balance check.

I actually feel pretty bad about it. I even told the owner I just wanted the bad tire replaced and the rest wasn't necessary but he waved me off.

Why would you feel bad? Their internal issues are not your problem. If what you were told is the true story, that guy probably left hundreds of cars out with unbalance, unsafe tires. That doesn't explain why the old tire was still in inventory for a rookie to accidentally use it. Or why nobody was checking his work. I doubt he files his own paperwork. Probably goes to someone in the office for billing.

I have a special 4x4 project in mind, but cannot find the SHORT X WIDE tires to make it happen. Winston Tire used to make a Fun & Mud they called 10-60s. Basiclly an L60x15 with a Fun & Mud tread. Everything I find with the right width is 33" tall or more. Just won't do for the aesthetics of the project. If the project should come to pass, Cooper Cobra GTs seem to have the most open possibly self cleaning tread for that L60 size tire. Good Morning from not so sunny central Cal.

That's why the assistant manager got demoted, it's his job to rotate and verify tire dates and safety. It's also his job to file all paper work and to verify the work was done.

I'm getting too old for this crap lol
Speaking of getting old. I'm thinkin'

this might be a good thing.

Ok. Thats it. Told customer he needs an engine.
Got so hot it destroyed the rad cap and where cap seals inside rad. Im suspecting rings will be cooked. Ran it until it quit, then ran it some more.
Im not interested in cracking it open, i know full well what a can of worms it will be.
Used running engine with a 90 day warranty is his best choice.
Questioning me, like i have no idea what im talking about.
About to tell him to go elsewhere.

Ugh. I don’t miss that crap from when I was running my auto upholstery business. Sometimes you gotta make them walk to get them to listen...and sometimes it still won’t work.

Bubye!

but it started shifting funny right after you did the brakes! :poke:
My favorite was when they would claim the radio stopped working right after I replaced their vinyl top.

It was often enough that I would have to tell my guys to never touch the radio. If it’s on or off, leave it that way...and don’t change stations or volume. If you touch the radio, you are fired.

Too many of the guys would hop in the car to move it into the shop and immediately turn the radio on and tune it to their favorite station so they could hear 10 seconds of music. Then the customer would claim it was on a different station and try to use that as the reason their radio failed.

I just got tired of the stupid fight with the dumbass customer who was just looking to get one over.

That's one thing that is desperately needed around here. There are none of those around anymore

99% of them are gone from everywhere. No money in it anymore. Those that are still in business around here also do furniture reupholstering and awnings just to themselves keep in business.

The “needle trade” as it is called, is pretty much dead.
